After my facetious outburst on Instagram I thought it only right that I put more considered and balanced views in my blog. Last year would have been ideal for photographing as traffic was so low, but other things were more important and I was not going about. Traffic was fairly quiet this morning, but not so that I could wander freely on the freeway and place my tripod unencumbered. Two years ago, as I set up on the pedestrian island, I heard an engine rev down as a police van drew up alongside me. The kindly officer asked me what I was doing, and although I was standing in front of a large DSLR on a tripod and swathed in camera bags, I replied ‘taking a photograph’.
Glorious blossom and light - worthy of note and great appreciation.
Calla lillies with a beam of warm sunlight falling across them.
A shot of Preston railway station. The half hidden roof supports, rivets and iron arches always fascinate me. It is a fabulous accretion of building, railway tech advances and sooty diesel creating a remarkable atmosphere.
A black and white and a colour edition of the same shot
As with the tulips recently posted the knife fascinates me as the light plays on its surface. Our eyes seem to linger on the comparisons between contrasts in adjacent areas. This is one knife and only one side is visible.
I posted this image to hopefully allow a clearer view of some details which were hard to see in the Instagram post. In the texture of the petals I was pleased to see a delicate contrast ‘pools’ of grey and a whiter veining around them, especially in the upper part of the image.
