There is something I enjoy in each of these images, that is the last one posted and this one too.
As well as shooting with a 105mm, I stacked some images to extend the depth of field a little. I find I am now wondering whether I should have rendered the whole leaf!
When light falls onto a leaf it grabs my attention especially if it is backlit; a few drops of water too and the pull is irresistable.
I understand that this is a ‘Siberian flag’ iris, but in Britain it is known as the Purple Iris. Quite stunning and standing so tall in the garden.
So different from today’s haul.
As we cut the lawn, Rachel noticed this flower and one or two of the same species in a group I and asked her not to mow it. The following day I photographed it. This is Cuckoo flower or Lady’s Smock the same as the one with the Orange Tip butterfly egg on it.
Once again I have great fun to report. It needed some effort but finally I have photographed this rose so that it looks something like as good as it does in our front room. I think the background was what made the most difference, with some hefty vignetting!
Update: May 7th. I was surprised and pleased with the attention this picture received on Instagram. Overnight it became the number 2 for “Reach” in the last 3 months ad well as quickly gaining likes and profile visits.
Many a happy hour spent gazing at the different aspects of this bloom through my Nikkor 105mm. It is amazing that slight movements to and fro, side to side and of focus can be so rewarding. I especially liked the gradient of colour across the image background. So much to take in and enjoy.
Surprised at the brightness and abstraction that developed in my camera!
